2013 TAYPHOON HAIYAN

2013 TAYPHOON HAIYAN RESULTS       $111,500

We teamed up with CFDA and Charitybuzz to bring a one of a kind auction to benefit immediate hurricane relief efforts in the Philippines. The funds raised from this initiative went to Waves For Water, who has been working on bringing basic needs to those affected from this tragedy. For Waves for Water, the mission is simple; To get clean water to every single person who needs it. People living in impoverished areas die every day from drinking dirty water. While having access to clean water is a luxury that many of us take for granted, there are millions living in nations with no filtration systems in place. Kids drink from the same streams where animals bathe. In addition, there’s no clean water available for surgery if someone is injured, putting the wounded at risk of deathly infections.

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your generous donation to our Fashion for the Philippines fundraiser organized by Fashion Girls for Humanity and CFDA in partnership with Charitybuzz. This letter is to acknowledge receipt of your donation to Fashion Girls for Humanity, and attached please find the receipt for your donated goods or service.

Today we would also like to give you an update on the result of our sale, and how the funds have been used so far.

The auction was a big success! We have received 89 donated items or services from a global fashion community, including publications, models, and fashion show organizers. Our partnership with Charitybuzz and CFDA enabled us to reach 240,000 people from 111 countries (!) with estimated 1 million impressions. Over 100 news outlets, blogs, fashion sites globally wrote about our auction. We have collectively raised $111,500—well above our initial $100k goal in less than 8 weeks since the disaster hit. While 100% of our net proceeds, $94,775, was wired to Waves for Water officially in May, Waves for Water started providing access to clear water to 160,000 people in the Visyan islands of the Philippines by providing 1,600 water filters in March.

We were again truly excited about what we have done together so quickly with a broader, global fashion community to make a positive social impact in the world. Please learn more about our water filter distribution program from here. We will keep you informed of our activities through letters and on our website www.fashiongirlsforhumanity.org.

All our very best,

Kikka Hanazawa
