2012 SANDY

RESULTS

NOV 12 - JAN 13 SALE

$198,000

Thank you for your generous donation to our Fashion Girls for Humanity Sandy Relief Sale. This letter is to acknowledge receipt of your donation to Fashion Girls for Humanity, and attached please find the receipt for your donated goods.

Today we would also like to give you an update on the result of our sale, and how the funds will be used in the next few months.

Over 100 US and international designers participated and donated about 5,000 pieces of clothing and accessories for this sale. With special help from Kay Sides (Hatch Showroom) in LA, we have successfully raised approximately $180,000 in NY and LA. In partnership with Waves for Water, we have so far helped coastal fire departments to rebuild and restore their facilities (learn more about Restore Fire Department Initiative from here). With Architecture for Humanity, we are planning to help rebuild damaged school facilities. More detailed updates on our initiatives are available on our website.

From the sale to benefit Japan last April, we have successfully funded the construction of a communal house in Rikuzentakata which has been already completed and open to the public in November after only 7 months, close to record time. The project’s uniqueness has received worldwide attention and won the Golden Lion Prize at the 13th Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy. Many more communal houses designed by Toyo Ito and leading Japanese architects are in the pipeline, and we hope to continue funding these projects by hosting another benefit sale this spring.

We are excited about these developments and our broadened scope of activities as an official non profit organization where designers and industry professionals can come together to make a positive impact. We will keep you informed of our activities through letters and on our website www.fashiongirlsforhumanity.org.

Warm Regards,
